Program Guide - Winter 2010

Yarra Valley FM 99.1 delivers "live-to-air" broadcasts from 6am through to midnight every day, featuring a variety of "easy listening" music between 6am and 7pm. Many of our specialist music programs are featured in the evenings and weekends.

We also have an extensive range of community programs that go to air on a regular basis, complementing our 24 hours a day music format. These include Schools In, Follow the Rainbow and Listen to Older Voices. Yarra Valley FM 99.1 - something for everyone!

School's In

Yarra Valley FM 99.1 has been presenting students from local schools live to air every weekday morning from 10:00 - 10:30am during school terms since 1994. We were the first community radio broadcaster to provide a voice for local schools to present a weekly, fortnightly or monthly program. A 30 minute program may show-case dialogue, stories, poems, school or class events, topics of interest being studied, birthday greetings, sports results, interviews and of course music.

School's In provides young people the experience of preparing a 30 minute live-to-air program, as well as the challenge of working a microphone. Students with obvious talents are encouraged to pursue their interest in radio, resulting in success for some students in radio related tertiary studies and commercial radio.

Marcella Sharp, presenter of Follow The Rainbow YVFM is proud to present a radio program for young children - “Follow the Rainbow” with Marcella Sharp, & the Magical Rainbow Teddies.

Marcella hosts “Follow the Rainbow” with the assistance of the “Magical Rainbow Teddies”. The Magical Teddies came down to Earth to find the most precious and special treasure and found CHILDREN and they have sent stories, songs and poems down to Earth to remind children how special, unique and lovely they are.

The show is aimed at children from 2-8 years and the content consists of a combination of original material -- uplifting songs, stories, poems and themes promoting children’s sense of their self-worth and esteem and encouraging imagining, creativity and fun, as well as traditional music and stories, Fairy Tales etc, and contemporary artists and entertainers such as HI 5, The Wiggles, Peter Coombe, Barney and many more.
