News and CSAs- Your Local Community

We transmit our local news bulletins regularly during the day; these are specially prepared by us and contain news about the Yarra Valley and surrounding districts.

In addition, we broadcast free community service announcements (CSAs) on behalf of not-for-profit community groups, such as clubs and societies, schools, community educators and so on. These are usually about coming events run by those organisations.

Below are CSAs which we are, or have, broadcast and some of the many press releases which arrive in our letter box every day.

If you heard the CSA on radio but missed the address or phone number, you'll find them here. Unfortunately, they are NOT in date order, so you'll need to scan through all of them.

Some of these have been condensed or summarised. Yarra Valley FM 99.1 presents these in the community interest. We maintain a neutral stance with respect to the originators of these press releases. We neither endorse nor condemn. No doubt you will form your own opinion.

The appearance of some news items is basic - we feel it's more important to provide the information than to limit ourselves to "pretty" press releases. We think that, in these modern times, we're encouraged to place too much importance on appearance rather than substance. As a radio station, we're not concerned with appearance, and so we won't get carried away by visual gimmicks in our website that add nothing to the information, but instead slow down your connection.

A big thanks to Jim, who is our CSA co-ordinator, and manages the on-air CSAs. You can send him your CSA to info@yarravalleyfm.com.

CSA: Be aware of travelling con artists trying to part you from your money.

Travelling con artists go from town to town, door knocking, pressuring people to hand
over cash upfront for shoddy repairs.

Don’t be tempted by uninvited, cheap, cash only, and today only home repairs.

Only use local reputable tradespeople and get quotes and references.

If you suspect travelling con artists in your area, note the person’s name and
appearance, vehicle make, colour and registration number and call the
national
hotline on 1300 133 408.

A message from Australian consumer affairs agencies and Crime Stoppers.
